In the general election on 12th December 2019, Andrew Murday standing as the Liberal Democrat candidate in Skipton and Ripon won 8,701 votes. This was a remarkable achievement compared with recent elections: in 2017 there was no Lib Dem candidate and in 2015 the Lib Dem came in fourth place with 4,057 votes.

Although we came third behind the Conservatives (34,919) and Labour (11,225) the various anti-Brexit tactical voting sites were advising the electorate to vote Labour rather than Lib Dem and we believe that had that not been the case we might well have come second.
